Institute of Information and Communication Technology

Introduction

The Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT) was founded in 2008 by the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science in Peking University. The IICT consists of the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Optical Communication Systems and Networks, Center for Wireless Communications and Signal Processing, and Center for Satellite Communications. It is the unit of the primary-level discipline of Information and Communication Engineering (including two sub-disciplines of "Communication and Information System", and "Signal and Information Processing") of Peking University. The Institute has 45 faculty members, including 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (double-appointed), 14 professors, 19 associate professors/associate researchers, 1 lecturer, 4 professorial senior engineers, 2 senior engineers, 2 engineers, and 1 research assistant professor, among whom are 1 distinguished professor of the Changjiang Scholars Professor Program, 1 recipient of the National Outstanding Young Scientists Fund, 2 recipients of the National Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Young Scientists Fund, 1 young scholar of the "Changjiang Program", 1 recipient of the Beijing Youth May Fourth Medal, and 1 recipient of the Beijing Science and Technology Rising Star Program. More than 50 doctoral and graduate students are enrolled.

In the field of optical communication, we have led and supported the major projects of the National " National 863 Program", such as "High Performance Broadband Information Network", "High Trusted Network" and "Three Networks The overall research in "convergence evolution technology and system", support the planning and construction of optical communication network of next generation broadcasting network, and make significant contribution to the national optical communication field science and technology development and demonstration network construction. The project "Basic Research on Pbits-level Controlled Optical Network" is an opportunity to support the research on core key technologies of super-large scale, super-high speed, and super-capacity optical networks; the project "Silicon Based Integrated 100 Gb/s Coherent Receiving and Transmission Chip" of " National 863 Program" is an opportunity to explore the core technologies of super-large scale, super-high speed, and super-capacity optical networks. The " National 863 Program" project "Silicon Based Integrated 100 Gb/s Coherent Receiver and Transmitter Chip Technology" is the beginning to explore the basic research and industrialization development of silicon-based optical communication chip in China. Supporting the planning and construction of optical communication networks for next-generation broadcasting and television networks, and making significant contributions to the development of national optical communication technologies and the construction of demonstration networks. Supporting the research of core key technologies for ultra-large scale, ultra-high speed, and ultra-large capacity optical networks. With " National 973 Program " chief scientist project "Pbits level controllable optical network basic research" as an opportunity to support the core key technology research of ultra-large scale, ultra-high speed and ultra-large capacity optical network. Taking the "National 863 Program" project "silicon-based integrated 100 Gb/s coherent reception and transmission chip technology" as the beginning, exploring the basic research and industrialization of silicon-based optical communication chips in China.

In the field of satellite communication, research on interference-resistant extended spectrum communication was carried out in the early 1970s and successfully applied to satellite communication systems. Over the past half century, it has developed comprehensive research and development capabilities in satellite communication system research, signal processing algorithms, satellite communication earth station equipment development and system construction, supporting the system research, overall system technology and technical standardization work of major national satellite communication systems. The Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite communication network and a series of satellite communication earth station equipment developed by the institute have been produced and put into use, and the related work has made an important contribution to the information construction of the country. The relevant achievements have won the first prize of National Science and Technology Progress and the first prize of Army Science and Technology Progress, etc.

In the field of wireless communication and signal processing, the core research content is broadband wireless communication and signal and information processing, and innovative theories and methods are proposed in the areas of new physical layer modulation for broadband mobile communication and future wireless network architecture. Carrying out prospective theoretical and applied research in mobile digital medical, acoustic signal processing, holographic information processing, etc. It is the first to propose simultaneous co-channel full duplex communication technology, which has become one of the key research directions for 5G technology at home and abroad. IICT undertakes a number of national science and technology major special projects, including the "Wireless Medical Internet of Things Master Design Planning". The Institute has submitted 14 TD-LTE and 4G technical documents to the IMT-Advanced Technical Working Group for inclusion in the white paper, and has become a major academic force in the research of key mobile communications and signal processing technologies at home and abroad.

IICT undertakes the operation of "State Key Laboratory of Advanced Optical Communication Systems and Networks", "Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Mobile Digital Hospital System", "SAPPRFT Engineering Technology Research Center for Broadband Coaxial Network". In recent years, the Institute has undertaken a number of "National 973 Program", " National 863 Program", National Science and Technology Support Program, National Science and Technology Major Project, National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as major and key projects at provincial and ministerial level, and won 2 first-class, 4 second-class and 2 third-class awards of National Science and Technology Progress, 1 first-class award of Army Science and Technology Progress, 5 first-class, 12 second-class and 3 third-class awards of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress, as well as other important honors such as Gold Medal of Geneva International Invention Exhibition and China Patent Excellence Award. In addition, the all-fiber optic gyro independently developed by IICT has been mass-produced. The Institute leads the development of independent intellectual property rights HINOC technology using coaxial cable to extend optical fiber to achieve gigabit access, while presiding over the development of a series of domestic and international standards, the development of the core chip and won large-scale applications. The Institute self-developed a model of satellite communication network system, the key indicators of the system reached the international advanced level.
